The importance of flowers at a wedding ceremony.

Flowers are a fairly big part of your wedding decor. From the bridal bouquet, button holes, centrepeices, gifts for parents, aisle decoration, room floral displays, the list goes on. ‘But did you know different types of flowers have symbolic meaning?

We all know that roses symbolise love and passion, but did you know that lilies and chrysanthemums are the flower of choice for funerals? The bridal bouquet was often made from herbs and other strong forals to ward off evil spirits in ancient times! It’s important to consider the symbolism, so you can choose the right ones. Colour, scent, big, small – it’s your day, so choose what reflects you.

One of the most obvious reasons to include flowers in events and weddings is their sheer aesthetic appeal. Whether used in centerpieces, bouquets, or as decorative accents, flowers bring natural beauty and colour to your wedding. The versatility of flowers also gives you endless creative possibilities – use them to match your theme and style of the occasion.

The scent of fresh flowers has the power to evoke emotions and create a memorable atmosphere. Consider incorporating flowers such as lavender, jasmine, or peonies to infuse a subtle and pleasant scents, smell is such an evocative sense, these flowers really can make your wedding even more memorable. In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on sustainability in weddings. Opting for locally sourced and seasonal flowers, as well as considering options like potted plants or dried flowers, can contribute to a more eco-friendly celebration. If the carbon footprint of your wedding is important to you, then make sure you mention this in your quote request. The right florist will be important. We have some florist suppliers that only use artificial flowers too – this is wonderful for sustainability and keeping your wedding flowers in memory of your special day.
