Entertainment can make or break a party! Birthdays, anniversaries, christenings, weddings, corporate events – the right entertainment can leave a lasting memory for your guests.

We wanted to give you a few suggestions of what you could have at your event or wedding.  This list is never ending, so always ask your chosen entertainment supplier questions and see what they can do that’s personalised for you.

Comedians

Comedians are brilliant if you’re hosting a formal or large event with a big guest list. They can really create a fantastic atmosphere and offer something totally different for your party.  Depending on your guests, you can go as wild or rude as you like! 

Live bands

Live bands are fantastic at getting everyone up dancing. But where do you start?  You can read more about selecting a live band on our blog, but as a rule, the more musicians in a band, the more expensive.

You can find live music bands that offer a full range of music or those that specialise in certain genres. So make sure you pick something that you love, but that your guests will enjoy too.  If you’re mad heavy metal lovers, maybe consider a band that might throw a few favourites in, but also entertain the rest of your audience!

Dancers and circus performers

If you’re having a big bash – for a big Birthday, festival style or corporate event – dancers and circus acts are great for keeping the crowds entertained.  You can have performers dressed up in every different circus act you can think of.  Stilt walkers, acrobats, podium dancers, street dance crews – the list is endless. Just consider what you would like to see and what you think your guests will find thrilling. Jugglers and clowns can be funny and silly too – but watch out, some guests might have a phobia of a clown!

At a wedding you could ask a dance crew to help involve you in a ‘first dance’. Make it super exciting and have a full street dance routine for the bride, groom and wedding party. Make sure you don’t forget to film it!

Magicians

Magicians are wonderful for weddings that might have a short break between the ceremony and reception. You can ask for a wandering magician that can walk amongst your guests surprising them with tricks and mind-blowing routines. They make sure that break in your wedding is fun and entertaining.

For big parties, you could request for a magician to do a bigger routine, engaging with your guests and using them in the performance.  Think Britain’s Got Talent!

Virtual Reality, arcade games and mobile gaming rooms

Using technology is a great way to entertain children and those big kids disguised as adults! Finding a mobile gaming hub is the perfect teenagers’ party entertainment. They can roll up to your house and all you need is the catering! You can even select the game your child prefers. Prices tend to vary on the number of gaming stations per mobile van.

Virtual Reality is an exciting and brand new ‘toy’ to hire for corporate events or parties.  You can have head sets already loaded with games for guests to try throughout the event.  These are also fantastic for corporate team building – add some competitive edge and watch the team really go for it.

Old fashioned and new arcade games can be hired for any type of event, children’s parties as well as weddings, anniversaries and so on.  Have them set up with traditional favourites like PAC-MAN, Sonic Dash, basketball smash, air hockey and Foosball. Both kids and adults will have great fun.

Celebrity Look alike

To really trick your guests introduce a celebrity look alike to the party! Why not have Princess Diana, Madonna or Tom Cruise join the celebration. Pretend they’re old friends and fool your guests! You can hire a celebrity look-a-like for an hour or longer – this can be a really fun way to be different.

DJs and singers

The classics are always the best. Hiring a DJ to play your favourite tunes at any event is, we’d argue, an essential part of your party or wedding.  Music changes an atmosphere immediately. We always advise considering this as one of the most important parts of your event, especially weddings. Great songs and an enthusiastic DJ can completely change a wedding or party.

If you can’t afford a live band, this is a really good way to offer something for everyone and keep the party flowing.  With a little more budget, you could even see if a local singer would come and join the DJ and sing a few of your favourite songs.

Classic and outdoor party games

If you’ve hired a venue with outdoor space, why not get a quote from one of our suppliers for outdoor mini-golf or fun fair games. You can go massive and hire a helter-skelter or request wedding themed mini-golf. They’re all wonderful ways to get guests mingling and getting to know each other.

If the weather might not be on your side, you can hire a marquee just in case, or see if your venue has space for smaller traditional games like giant Jenga, human chess, hook a duck or shuffleboard.

You could even get your DJ to compere a mass game of musical statues!

Psychics and fortune tellers

Finally, for smaller more intimate gatherings hiring a fortune teller, mystic or psychic is a really different way of entertaining your guests.  These are excellent for ladies lunches, hen dos or adult birthday parties. You’ll find prices vary depending on how many guests you have or if you offer one-2-one readings or more of a stage show for all your guests. But watch out, some can have hilarious results or could tell you something you may not want to hear!
