One of our fabulous new event suppliers is MKP Entertainment. We’ve interviewed their top entertainer David to find out more about their services.
So, David, tell us a bit about your business?
I’ve been entertaining children and adults for over 30 years. We offer children’s parties, including discos and magic shows, family and grown-up events, which include baffling magic and mind-reading sessions for grown-up events.
I love the industry and I’m always thinking of new and exciting shows to keep children and adults entertained.
Why/how did you start your business? What inspired you?
I started performing magic at a tender age of 11! I knew right then performing was for me. I worked really hard to learn the tricks of the trade and at 20 years old I joined Pontins as a Bluecoat. It was so much fun and I learnt the technical side of my role. This includes the bits that look easy, but aren’t! Like microphone control, dJing, AV equipment management and creating shows that are all encompassing and engaging for adults and kids – it’s very easy to lose peoples’ attention. There is a skill to capturing minds and eyes – especially the little ones!
How do you go above and beyond for your clients?
I used to have a few employees on my team, but now it’s only me performing, I know my clients will get the very best every time. I never have an off day, I always make sure my parties and events are brimming with entertainment and fun for every second I’m employed.
What’s your favourite thing about being an entertainer and do you have any special memories from a particular event(s)?
That’s really easy, simply the look of astonishment on people’s faces when the magic happens in their own hands. I especially love when someone just can’t believe I can read their thoughts under impossible conditions! It’s a real buzz.
Children are fantastic to watch during a show too, their reactions and little faces are a joy to watch.
